Hi folks (and anyone else),

I just found WinFlip and am amazed! Just one thing seems a bug to me:
When starting to flip, the first item in the stack is the application that I had just used. What should this be good for? Obviously, one would want to change to another app, so making the last app the first item would make more sense (like the original XP task switcher does) and would save one unnecessary key press.

Thanks for reading (and considering  Wink ) this,
Rob

I have to agree that, if possible, WinFlip should show the last-used program bar one at the top of the stack. Out of interest, how is the order currently decided?

Cheers,

- Amos

This is a great idea. I'm glad someone brought this up. BUT there should be an option (like in TopDesk) to either keep the current program in front or bring the program behind the front most program to the front when hitting Alt-Tab.

I agree with all of you Grin

Now, I have a question.
I want to know the simple sentence about this optional setting.
I checked the TopDesk dialogue.
It was "Bring the window behind the frontmost window to the front."
I think this is bit long. I want to make it shorter.

Any ideas?

 Roll Eyes Thank you ( for letting it be OPTIONAL ), Koji, it is Roman again.

Something like:

=====================================

Flip tile order:

-   jump to frontmost (normal z-order)
-   skip the frontmost

=====================================

Flip tile order:

-   jump to frontmost (normal z-order)
-   skip the frontmost

Firstly, the word would be 'foremost', not 'frontmost' Wink

I think Roman is right: "Send current window to back" or "Skip foremost window" would be good.

 Cry

Koji,

I had just finished posting when I pressed "Win"+"Tab" and WinFlip (WinFlip Ver.0.422Debug) crashed. I had 400 Mb of free RAM and 25% CPU load.

It popped up the message "Debug/Close" which I could not click. "CTRL+ALT+DEL" did not respond either. Some processes, such as "Download Master" were going on, but none was accessible. I could move mouse, but it was impossible to click, I could only move it. I tried to make a screenshot, but WinSnap did not listen. I tried the Start Menu, as well as taskbar and tray, but nothing responded.

I could do nothing but move mouse for 10 minutes and then reset the computer.

             ```        IT  WAS  TERRIBLE      ```
It happens all the time: WinFlip can be stable from several minutes to some hours, it can endure much, but THEN SUDDENLY WHEN THE HOT KEY IS PRESSED, FLIP DOES NOT BEGIN, HARD DRIVE STARTS WORKING FOR  A WHILE, AND 1 SECOND LATER THE "Debug/Close" MESSAGE POPS UP. As the result, system hangs FOREVER.
Ok, step by step:
1. I press "Win"+"Tab"
2. Flipping does not begin
3. Hard disk starts spinning for approximately 1 second
4. The "Debug/Close" message appears
5. I can only move mouse and cry out for help, then reboot
Oh, well  .....  what to do ?   Possible to fix ?
Mr. Higashino, please fix it !
Roman.
P.S.
Looks like when the hot key is pressed, WinFlip blocks (or intercepts) some essential parts of user interface. When WinFlip crashes, user does not get back regular windows interface parts, such as mouse clicks, keyboard, taskbar, start menu.
This must be fixed.
Whilst this is a problem, Roman, in my experience you do not have to restart your machine. Simply leave it for 5-10 minutes, and eventually Windows should tell you WinFlip has encountered a probelm and needs to close. Choose to end the app and your computer should free up again.
Oh - and Roman:
The central difference is the amount each word is used; foremost is a far more common word in the English language Smiley
 Grin
I once (with WinFlip) left the computer for more than 10 minutes, and it was still hanging. Even IF it did what you say, it would be very inconvenient to every time wait.
I've had this bug 14 times if I am not mistaken.
I'll visit this forum tomorrow, 1 hour later I'll go home.
Best regards,
Roman.
Hi roman and amos again Smiley
Okey, I'll use "Skip foremost window" for this.
And the problem which is reported by roman is the most terrible bug must be fixed.
I put this problem on top of the to do list.
Before I fix them, I'll release the another debug version which is v.0.423Debug.
That version includes some of new functions and "emergency exit" just for the test.
I'll tell you farther information later. Smiley
Roman, I admit, it's only happened to me once - and you're right, it is inconvenient. Best of luck resolving it, Koji Smiley and I look forward to 0.423Debug.
 Roll Eyes
Good day, friends !
It is 3 PM in Ukraine now, snowing outside, I am at the computer at work, just having some time to come here.
I apologize for using too many words often, but just sometimes I feel I should say a lot, especially when trying to explain - I do not know if what I'm writing is clear enough.
So, good choice, Koji ( "Skip the foremost window" ).
I have changed WinFlip.exe priority in task manager from HIGH to REAL-TIME, and WinFlip works better. What if reserving an option for WinFlip process priority, so
user does not have to every time go to the task manager and change the priority ? ( Maybe it is possible to make task manager remember a process's priority after the priority has been changed. Tell me if I do not know ).
It definitely works faster with the REAL-TIME priority applied on WinFlip.exe !
Koji, could you fix the taskbar filling with BLUE when a window tile is chosen and WinFlip exits the flip mode ?
It is very much like an "alarm" flashing on my black msstyle with BLACK taskbar color ( MV 5720 or Microsoft ZUNE ) - the taskbar color should be detected on WinFlip's start.
Regards,
leaving for a while, Roman. Roll Eyes
I released v.0.423Debug just before.
ATTENTION: It's not for the "Crash" problem.
I'm going to fix them from tomorrow.
Good night all Smiley
