Feature Suggestions:

1. Suggestion # 1 - WinFlip should show window tile names. The name of a window tile pointed by mouse could be placed underneath just above taskbar.

2. Suggestion # 2 - Why not adding more customizable functions for "Space", "Enter", and mouse right click while flipping:

-  Minimize window
-  Hide window
-  Close window
-  Choose window
-  Do nothing
-  Exit WinFlip

3. Suggestion # 3 -  very handy "SPACE","ENTER", and "TAB"  keys should be allowed to program to use them in WinFlip's hot key combinations.

e.g.

1). "CTRL + TAB"
2). "SHIFT + TAB"
3). "CTRL + SPACE"
4). "CTRL + ENTER"
5). "SHIFT + ENTER"
6). "ALT + SPACE"
7).  "ALT + ENTER"

I am suggesting this feature #3 only if it is not too difficult to implement.

4. Suggestion #4 - WinFlip should disable itself when a fullscreen 3D accelerated game (or similar) is started, reenabling when the game is exited. Additional option

"Disable" should be added to WinFlip tray menu. This feature would be a BIG PLUS to WinFlip.

Enabled:

Disabled:

WinFlip should disable/reenable itself AUTOMATICALLY too.

This feature is a hard, but it is worth implementing it.

5. Suggestion # 5 - "CTRL"+"ALT"+"DEL" combination should force WinFlip to exit the flip mode.

6. Suggestion # 6 - When desktop wallpaper is changed, WinFlip should detect that it has changed and copy the new image for the d e s k t o p t i l e.  Maybe as follows:

The desktop wallpaper's FILENAME and LOCATION are stored in hard disk memory by Windows XP. When flip mode is requested, WinFlip could check the memory and copy the new wallpaper  ONLY  IF  the memory data differs from what WinFlip obtained on WinFlip's start. If the wallpaper data has not been changed, WinFlip needn't copy the same wallpaper image again.

7. Suggestion # 7 - In current version, WinFlip does perfectly update all the window tiles once when the flip mode is started. Why not to have all the tiles be updated continuously every once in a period of time ?

WinFlip should optionally let user see ALL of the window tiles being continuously updated.

check box       Update all windows in the list

In my view, adding this feature should not be extremely hard, since the current version of WinFllip is already capable of updating all window tiles once. So, why not to update them continuously once each period of time (why not OPTIONALLY CALLING THE PROCEDURE WHICH ALREADY EXISTS IN WINFLIP TO REFRESH THE PREVIEWS ONCE IN A WHILE) ?   This feature would strengthen WinFlip much.

This feauture is NOT MY idea and can be found in Vista and in many 3D and 2D task-switching programs.

It would be great for Expose-like layout too.

For me it would be enough to implement it as simple as single checkbox, but to provide finer tuning for this feature, it could later be expanded to something as:

Update scheme:

  - Update foremost window
  - Update all windows
  - Update foremost, 3 windows before the foremost, and 3 windows (whose previews will be ready in memory when user flips backwards) behind foremost (to emulate refreshing all tiles in less time)

AND

   Update period:

    - every 0.33 sec
    - 0.66
    - 1 sec
    - 2 sec
    - 4 sec

8. Suggestion # 8 - I like the current WinFlip 3D layout very much, but I suggest that additional 3D Flip could be added - a 3D Flip layout built so that more window tiles can be previewed and bigger portion of each tile can be seen.

9. Suggestion # 9 - As it has already been suggested by users in this messageboard,  I also think it reasonable implementing EXCEPTIONS list for WinFlip.

10.  Suggestion # 10 - Adding the Expose-like function would be good, but I personally would vote in favor of fixing known bugs and adding more features to the Flip 3D before implementing Expose-like.

If Expose-like is worked on, I would ask to consider the

following aspects:

- providing a seperate hotkey to activate it

- placing the window titles below the tile previews, not in the

middle of them (to avoid hiding tiles)

Thank the developer for dynamicall improvement of WinFlip and fixing its bugs, which sure takes time.

Again, I would like to wish WinFlip long prolific existence, and I wish Koji Higashino and the crew all best with this project.

Thank you for WinFlip and my best regards.

Roman Sibirko.

1. Suggestion # 1 - WinFlip should show tile names ( maybe on
top of the screen ), the name of the front tile if mouse pointer
does not move while flipping, and the name of the tile under
mouse cursor if user moves mouse while flipping.

You are right. I just put this into the to do list Smiley

2. Suggestion # 2 - Why not to assign a function for Right-Click
while flipping?   User could choose an option in WinFlip

settings:
-   Right Click Closes tile
-   Minimizes
-   Exits the flip mode
-   Does nothing

Yeah. I'm working with them. Just I did one of them in WinFlip0.422Debug.
But It should be a selectable function as you wrote.

3. Suggestion # 3 -  very handy "SPACE","ENTER", and
"TAB"  keys should be allowed to be programmed to use in
WinFlip's hot key combinations.

It'll be nice. but I reckon I can't implement this :-/ (Just I'll try.)

Quote
4. Suggestion # 4 - LEFT-clicking on WinFlip’s tray icon could
Flip windows too ( just as pressing WinFlip's hot key ).

Yeah. That's not hard one. I put this into the to do list Smiley

5. Suggestion # 5 - WinFlip should ( I think it is a "must have"
indeed ) definitely optionally let user see all the tiles updated (
not only the front tile ), WinFlip could have options as follows:

-   Update all window tiles once after tiling and the
front tile continuously after tiling ( default as it is now )
-   Update all window tiles once before tiling and front
tile continuously after tiling
-   Update front window tile once before and all window
tiles continuously after tiling
-   Update all window tiles once before tiling and
continuously after tiling

Yes I should implement this as well Smiley like TopDesk.

7. Suggestion # 7 - pressing the "ESCAPE" button should exit
the flip mode and return user to the window from which flip
mode was started. If this window from which flip mode was
started has been closed while flipping, WinFlip should return
user to current window or to deskop tile if no windows are left
open.

aha. You are right. currently, "ESC" key is only for quit the flip mode.
But You suggest it should be "restore the windows zorder same as before."
I put this into the to do list Smiley

8. Suggestion # 8 - When starting a game ( that is when full
screen mode other than a video player's video being shown on
full screen ) starts, WinFlip should disable itself until the game
exits to windows.

I agree with you.
I put this into the to do list Smiley

9. Suggestion # 9 - WinFlip does almost perfect job on full
screen video in VLC media player ( TopDesk does not ). Would
be just awesome if it could show other players video as well as
VLC’s.

I'm sorry. Unfortunately It cannot be fixed.(I tried before)

Quote
10. Suggestion # 10 - when exiting the flip mode after a tile has
been chosen, the whole screen flashes or taskbar becomes
messed.

WinFlip0421Debug does not completely solve these problems
and with WinFlip0421Debug the taskbar looks very unusual on
black msstyles, such as Microsoft Zune Theme, MV5720, or any
black msstyle.

WinFlip0421Debug is not good enough for quite popular black
color taskbar msstyles, the idea is good but the color should be
fixed or optionally adjusted.

I think I don't understand the problem. Okey, I'll try "Microsoft Zune Theme" later.

11. Suggestion # 11 -
=============================================
No matter if task manager is loaded or not, the
"CTRL"+"ALT"+"DEL" combination should force WinFlip to
exit the flip mode safely and  continue regular operating
system's functioning !
=============================================

umm. Okey, I'll try them. but I'm not sure I can implement them or not.

To provide smoother tile drawings :
==================================================
=========== Tile previews should be buffered in ( video )
memory, each period of time these previews being updated ( less
often when the flip mode is off and more often while flipping ).
This could provide smooth, accurate, and faster tile drawing. It
would take some resources, but options would let user adjust
the program’s functioning. I guess that this scheme is present in
Vista and some other products.
==================================================
============

You are right.
I explain "What the current verion of WinFlip does".
When WinFlip starts, WinFlip buffers all of window's screen shot into the video memory.
When the flip mode is requested, WinFlip compairs "buffered window list" and "latest window list".
If the window which is in the "buffered list" can't find in the "latest window list", then WinFlip drops the buffered image.
If it exists in the "latest window list", then WinFlip compairs it's window size. If the window size has changed,
WinFlip drops the buffered image. After all of windows in the list have chceked, then flip action starts.
This is the basic process WinFlip does.(WinFlip is doing some more check)

I think it's not exactly what you wrote, but nearly equal.
And I'll try to make it better.

12. When all the bugs are fixed, WinFlip being stable as nothing
else, suggestion # 12 could be considered too.

Suggestion # 12 - I would probably make the "Smaller" window
tiles  25 % larger and  spread them on screen space so that
bigger part of each tile can be seen : the frontmost tile could be
shrinked a little in width and moved a little right and down.
In future WinFlip could also support MAC layout with
seperate hot keys for 3D and MAC layouts.

I'm sorry It's too difficult for me to understand what you want to say.(My bad English!)
So, could you try other way to explain this pls?
If you don't mind, could you try ICQ? You can find MY ICQ number in the members profile.

Lastly Thank you very very much for your many of suggestions Smiley

With WinFlip0422Debug the taskbar looks very unusual on black msstyles, such as Microsoft Zune Theme, MV5720, or any black msstyle.

WinFlip0422Debug is not good enough for quite popular black color taskbar msstyles - the taskbar flashes with blue every time exiting the flip mode, the idea is good but the color should be fixed or optionally adjusted.

Ok, Microsoft Zune Theme, MV5720, or any black msstyle have BLACK taskbar color, so when EXITING the flip mode the taskbar flashes with BLUE color - pretty much like an alarm signal.

WinFlip0422Debug  > any theme or msstyle with BLACK taskbar > when EXITING the flip mode the taskbar flashes with BLUE color
