Hi all,

I've been using WinFlip for a couple of weeks now, and I have a few suggestions for upcoming versions.

I think it would be great to give the user more control over what WinFlip looks like.
For example, at the moment, a user can choose between 'Small' and 'Large' display types. Why not allow the user to define exactly what size he wants the window panes to be with a slider?

The interface is very clean and neat at the moment, but there are a few things that could be changed.

Firstly, I think that all the times in the right-click menu should be move to the Options dialogue under a new 'Performance' tab (except 'language', which might as well be in 'Others').

Secondly, it would be a great idea to allow the user to choose from a variety of alphabets. The current one is smart, but it didn't go with my desktop style very well. To change it, I had to create my own from scratch. I would be more than happy to provide you with some optional alphabets if you plan to implement them!

Thirdly - and this is a very signnificant change, I realise, and can;t be done in a short time - it would be fantastic to be able to have more than one kind of WinFlip flipping animation. Let me give you a couple of examples (sorry, it was too hard to animate them!). The first is the current animation.

Once again, thanks for a great piece of software!

Cheers,

- Amos

Hi amos Smiley

That's Excellent! I'm realy impressed Cheesy
I'm also planning some of them to make. So, It will be appear on upcomming versions.
I list them up below.

1. Move some of right-click menu to the Options dialogue.
In fact I wont move them. Just I'll make a same setting option in the dialogue.
Because, If I move them, We have to update all of readme files. It's much hard job for us.
If I just make same setting options in the dialogue, We just only put one line like this "You can set them in the dialogue as well." or
If nothing changes for readme files, It still not bad.

2. More than one flipping animation
(a)It'll be Kind of "Expose" (This is Suggested by TheZeroorez)
(b)The animation that you suggested are nice but I'm not sure I can do that or not. So, I just say "I'll try" at moment.

It's off topic but I wanna say.
We have got 14 of different language files(and readme files). It must be fantastic for the users.
But in the same time, It stops my idea. If I find someting to make WinFlip better, Sometimes the "language files problem" stops me.
"Oh, If I do that, I have to update readme file. many lines to delete, many lines to add. It's Okey. But many translators have to follow me."
That's why we're planning to stop providing the readme files.

Translators who is reading this thread, Just go to "WinFlip Board > Member Area > General > About providing the readme files." and vote it pls.

Cheers

I've already voted in favour of only having extra readme files in the Wiki. This would mean that, whilst they cover most things in the new menu, they don't neccesarily have to be completely up-to-date.

Koji, did you want some alternate alphabet files?

I haven't made any yet (except the one I use, but that could be drastically imporved anyway). I'd be interested to know how you made yours first, actually - did you make 26 tiles, each with a letter, then save them as a strip somehow?

It's a bit troublesome task Tongue
This is a way i did.(I think you did same way)
1. Make 1664 x 64 empty image.
2. Put the holizontal line above few pixels from the bottom of the image.
3. Put the 26 of vertical lines(63 pixels space each).
4. Now you can see the 26 of boxes in the image.
5. Make new layer.
6. Put alphabet image for each boxes on new layer.
7. Adjust the position of alphabet images.(Use the guide lines that you put in step2 and 3)
8. Delete the guide lines layer.
9. Save it.

It requires the image editor which has got layer function.(e.g. Paint.NET, Photoshop)

That's it Smiley

They're a pain to make!

Attached are the fonts Sans and Impact. Enjoy.

Not sure it's worth including the one I did last time, the alignment is poor and the outline didn't work properly. Of course you can include any of them, though.

CYPM?

Thanks amos Cheesy
I'm using the "Impact" font now. That's pretty good.

You're right. The first one will not to be included.
But the fonts Sans and Impact are nice. It'll be included upcomming versions.

Wink All suggested here looks great to me.

As to what's been suggested by Amos, there's something called SmartFlip for Windows Vista, just what it can look like. So, good idea !
