To get your vieo card info, you can use dxdiag (what Koji asked you), or you can use this utility :

www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

but dxdiag contains more info.

Edit:

Tech,

the error message of a missing alphabet file while you do have alphabet.png confuses me. So far it has not been reported as bug really.

If you have enthusiasm left, I would suggest:

(the principle idea of this suggestion is to exit Kaspersky, download WinFlip, TEST the archive before extracting it, and finally see if you can launch WinFlip)

1. Make sure your archivator is alright, and I'm sure it is
(Freeware 7-zip is good for almost all kinds of archives).

2. Not just disable Kaspersky, but exit it. Then with the antivirus unloaded, download WFlip050.zip from either official server.

3. Now test the downloaded WFlip050.zip with an archivator ("Test archive") and make sure it says that "No errors found."

4. Now try to start WinFlip.exe

If you still have alphabet file missing error message, then it's a mystery.

= = = = =

This also grabs my attention:

Quote
And it says this program will install Win flip 0.50 into d:\program Files\Win flip
And I click start. When I click start there’s small dialog and it says the destination directory doesn’t exist. Do you want it to be created! There’s two chooses Yes and No
If I click No is says Win flip 0.50 has not been totally installed because of the following reason:

You will have to run this utility again to completely install Win flip 0.50

And If I press yes it says the process will complete and when ever I click Exit
It says Sorry! Direct 3D failed to initialize for help, go to Winflip.styleking.de/board.
I press ok… it says Sorry! Win flip failed to start, and will now close

which means the installer does successfully copy files and then does launch WinFlip and there's no alphabet file missing error.

However, it says "Sorry! Direct 3D failed to initialize", which means there is a video system problem.

Read this post over, analyze your situation, and rely on Koji's reply below.

Hi tech Smiley

I think you can do following 2 actions.

1) Ensure your machine's video card/chip driver is latest. And update it if necessary.

After that, If still WinFlip doesn't work on your machine, It means your machine's video card doesn't support WinFlip.

2) Try other flip 3D software like "TopDesk".

Did you try this software already?

Cheers,
Koji

Guys I think I maybe figured out something, and it´s so obvious that I didn´ noticed until now. Tech you´re opening winflip from inside the archive? It seem so, look at the screenshots. That would explain the missing alphabet file error as winzip extracts only exe files into temporary directory without other important files (language and alphabet). I hope this is it and not some other weird error. I read the whole thread and I hope I didn´t miss anything. Just extract the zip again and run the winflip.exe from the extracted folder. If you still get Direct3D failed to initialize, try to update your graphic drivers and I think installing latest DX9 redist. won´t hurt. I´ll keep my fingers crossed for you tech.

Cheers guys...

Hadn't followed this post as far as the screenshots, but it looks like Leon's right; it looks like you're extracting only the executable and not all the other files.

Edit: or perhaps extracting all the files and then still trying to run the .exe from the .zip?

Will be good spot Leon,

maybe tech keeps trying to "install" WinFlip that way.  Undecided  But right, this is what his screenshot shows.

If honestly, it looks like a planned draw of tech.  He wins.

Incredible ...

That is very good point.
But on the other hand he told me in the shout box he saw the message 'Sorry! Direct 3D failed to initialize.'
I think It means he tried extracted executable too.

tech did you try extracted executable yet?

I see. It seems to me that the missing language/alphabet files error was caused by trying to run executable from the archive. Running executable from its folder leads to Direct 3D failed to initialize error, which could be either driver issue, or probably old graphic card, or even old version of the DX9.

Tech you have SP2 XP right?

I´m sorry if I am asking about stuff that was discussed in Shoutbox, but it is deleting older post to make space for the new ones and I haven´t been around lately. Wink

The alphabet part will be on the side.

What, does this mean you're also trying to start WinFlip.exe directly from winzip ?
