So everytime i try to log into MSN live messanger it comes up as "Your contact list is not available right now, please try again later" then i click "Show details" and it comes up as ERROR CODE: 80072eff

I would like to be able to go on my msn ,so can someone please provide me with a solution to my problem?

Iam using Windows Live Messenger

Hi Tech,

- Is your firewall set to allow Messenger to send/receive traffic?
- In Tools » Options » Connections » Advanced, is 'TCP' ticked?

Have you tried running the MSN connection test?. Is under Tools, I believe. Just to check if you're no being blocked by your firewall.

Hi tech, first check if you have the latest version of windows messenger. Then make sure, like amos said that the messenger is not blocked by your firewall. (Windows firewall shouldn´t be an issue but if you are using any third party firewall check your settings). Also this error might be caused if you are using proxy server for connection. In control panel->Internet options->Connection tab->Lan settings uncheck use proxy (if checked).

Anyway, since when were you having this error. Did it happen just out of the blue or you were installing new programs/drivers/uninstalling stuff.

I hope it was helpful. I use either Miranda IM or my Xbox to connect to MSN so I don´t really know much about Messenger.

Windows live messenger always follows internet configuration settings from the Internet Explorer, therefore:

Disable proxy in Internet Explorer

Configure the always direct rules to msn address if you’re setting your computer as your own proxy server

Configure Internet Explorer to bypass proxy connection to MSN Address
