I don't believe these are new bugs, but somehow I fail to find discussions and/or remedies for them. Could there be workarounds for them already? Does anyone know? Please help  Cry

Don't think I've ever seen mention of this bug before. Roman, Koji, any ideas?

Hi super_random

Welcome to WinFlip MessageBoard Smiley

I think I know this bug.
Some of softwares doesn't return correct image to 'PrintWindow()' API.
In this case, I think the sidebar app is the software which doesn't return correct image.

TrueTransparency is also one of the software, but WinFlip makes correct image instead of TrueTransparency.

Cheers,
Koji

Thanks for your follow-up comment Smiley

Thank you for the explanation.

I was assuming that PrintWindow() was used to capture individual windows for flipping, and did not realize it was also used for creating the background image.

In the next release, will it be possible to add support for static background image that is independent of the desktop wallpaper? It seems if PrintWindow() will not be needed to capture the background, then those display anomalies should go away.

I will not mind manually scaling and saving a new image every time I change the desktop wallpaper, if that can help remove the display anomalies.

There is still the 2nd bug regarding the vertical shifting of the background. Hopefully that will be gone in the new release as well.

Thank you to both of you, for creating this excellent piece of software, plus maintaining the forum for users to search for answers to their questions.

Hello super_random, hello Amos, hello Koji !

A workaround for Ver 050 is to start WinFlip.exe when the sidebar is hidden/minimized/or not running, it will ensure correct capturing of your desktop image. In addition, put the sidebar you are using on the excusion settings list, or try a different sidebar.  (e.g. I use the original vista's sidebar on my XP, which does not screw up my desktop background when I'm flipping.)

To have your taskbar shown up properly in flip mode, you'll need to restore it to the botom and uncheck the autohide option.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the workaround. I will try it out.

For now, I am resorting to a more "permanent" solution.  Grin
