i downloaded it, and i just baught this eee 2g surf for my gf, and i hate the way that the original desktop and stuff looks like a childs toy. so when i saw the pic showing that it makes it look like a desktop for a normal computer, i had to download it

so what happens is when i downloaded it. and when i clicked the winflip.exe all the would happen is like the "open with" kinda thing, telling me 2 find a program to open it with, and sine this eee is so confusing to me i dunno what im suppose to click

any1 know how?

this program will make the desktop of the computer look normal right? where u can change the background image and theres just icons sitting on the desktop right?

please get back to me asap b4 i give this to her.

Hi February,

Unfortunately the Asus Eee 2G Surf comes with Xandros Linux and not Windows XP, so you cannot use WinFlip on the Eee PC.

If you're up for a challenge, you can install Compiz Fusion on the machine by following the following page:

This enables several cool 3D effects.

I've read that you can upgrade to XP using an XP CD (which you'll need to buy, grab an OEM one for £50) and the included upgrade kit. Should be easy enough to find a detailed walkthrough on Google.

Hi I believe that to use an installation CD you need to have an usb CD/DVD drive. Installing WinXP is pretty much easy but be sure that you have all XP drivers prior to installation. Also I´m sure there is a way to have both Xandros and XP working together as a dual boot system (I don´t know how big is the HDD in this Eee), but since you said you don´t like Linux platform you can wipe your harddrive clean and install just XP.
