Hi,
I like the tool but it is not usable for me because it crashes nearly every time I use it. Most of the time my computer runs for several hours before I use the alt-tab for the first time - but then I only get the old xp style switcher and the xp error dialog that windows has detected an error. Maybe its because I use quite high resolution: dual monitor 1600x1200 + 1024x784?! A fix would be nice ;-)

Welcome tsts,

With 1600x1200 + 1024x784, does WinFlip initialize at all when double-clicking on WinFlip.exe ?

Does the tool initialize and flip alright with same resolution settings on both monitors (e.g. 1024x768 & 1024x768) ?

Thank you for your report.

Hi,
yes it initializes and it works if I use it pretty soon after starting. My use case is that it is in the autostart and most of the time it's running for several hours (1-3) before using it for the first time ... and then it crashes 100%. After restarting it works again.

Hi tsts,

you may want to view what's summurized in the Crash Bug announcement. WFFix can help you automatically restart WinFlip when it crashes.

As for the dual monitor issue, it would be interesting to learn:

1. Does WinFlip work on the dual configuration with DIFFERENT resolutions for each monitor ?

2. Does WinFlip work on the dual configuration with SAME resolutions for each monitor ?

I'm thinking Undecided that if possible it would be great to see WinFlip screenshotted on the dual configuration.

The stability of winFlip will be improved.

There will not be a fix for the dual configuration soon, but let's hope.

Hi tsts, Roman. I think I might have the same problem as tsts. It is when you don´t use Winflip for a while, open and close many windows and then try to flip. WinFlip usually crash then. Same thing will happen when you suspend your pc, wake it up and try to flip. However I haven´t test it extensively and I use a WinFlip a lot so as it was just a few crashes I thought it was just some random thing.
Now tsts, could you try the older versions of WinFlip? It´s just I don´t remember WinFlip crashing before v0.5

Ok, most probably its not the resolution but the time to the first usage. I'd try an old version, where can I get one, in the download section I find 0.50 only ...
In this week I had another problem, that winflip activates on other keyboard combinations than set in the options, e.g. pressing tab definitely without alt.

I have noticed the same, although I cannot set the steps to reproduce the dependancy of WinFlip crashing on opening/closing of windows. Nonetheless it's worth to check for that.

Cannot be sure on this. If WinFlip crashes only once after you first started it and then upon restarting follows stable running without a single crash, then yes, this is the case. I'd ask you watch for the behaviour and please tell us.

We've had 2 other users report this as well. However hard I try, I cannot reproduce it, but it may be different on different systems. Check if your Alt or another WinFlip hotkey trigger stays down after you release it, and make sure no other tools are sending keystrokes, since either may be the case.

If you want to try older builds you can find some of theme here
http://tokyodownstairs.blogspot.com/2007/11/winflip-labo.html

However these older builds doesn´t include the Exclusion list functionality, so some applications doesn´t have to flip properly (check this common bugs section)
