I just wanted to post up here to tell whomever created this program, THANK YOU. I recently purchased a new laptop that, of course, came pre-loaded with Windows Vista. The only feature I liked about Vista was the windows flipping (and the themes). Soooo, to make a long story short, I went out on a hunt for similar programs for XP. I came up with a few different ones, most of which were resource hogs with TONS of bugs...that is, until I came across Winflip. I've been using it for a few days now and haven't experienced any problems. I've showed it to all my XP buddies at school (I go to a tech school, and we're all totally anti-any OS other than XP..). Everyone is very pleased with the light load on your system and the smooth functionality. SO... in closing, thanks again. I'll be sure to check back often for updates and new releases!! -William

Always good to hear positive feedback, I'm sure Koji will be glad! Thanks for comments and welcome to the board. I go to a tech school, and we're all totally anti-any OS other than XP. Why?

I’ll piggy-back on this thread instead of making another. This program is fantastic (at least it seems to be so far); the increase in my productivity will be huge. And the best part is it doesn’t use much ram (even on max settings ). I think if it keeps working it’ll be one the programs I can’t live without like: Pure text, Kana reminder, and Auto hotkey. One thing that I don’t like about it, is that the windows are never in the same order. It really slows down productivity, when they’re constantly switching around. (are they always in the same order in vista or are they constantly moving around like with alt+tab?) Ps, I’ve got a letter set I made does it have to use a font I made or is any font ok?

Hello Amos, welcome to the messageboard William_C and G.A. Pste ! Everyone is very pleased with the light load on your system and the smooth functionality. SO... in closing, thanks again. This program is fantastic (at least it seems to be so far); the increase in my productivity will be huge. And the best part is it doesn’t use much ram (even on max settings Cheesy). It is pleasure to be reading this, thank you for trying WinFlip, reporting, and suggesting ! ``````````` One thing that I don’t like about it, is that the windows are never in the same order. Undecided It really slows down productivity, when they’re constantly switching around. (are they always in the same order in vista or are they constantly moving around like with alt+tab?) By default, WinFlip generates the same window order as Aero Flip 3D in Vista. To have the order of the conventional Alt-Tab, to skip the active window, go to Options > Other > check Send the active window to the back when flipping. Other tab allows finely you tune WinFlip with other useful options. `````````````` Ps, I’ve got a letter set I made does it have to use a font I made or is any font ok? You can use additional fonts included in WinFlip.zip. This is how to use a different font. To create a new font of your own, read here. Best regards.

I already did that; I don’t like alt-tab order either. Is there a way to change it so that the windows are always in the same order like on the windows task bar?

Hi G.A. Pster, no, unfortunately the current version does not reserve a way to have flipped windows order exactly the same as in the taskbar. This feature request was mentioned in Feature Suggestions Summary. Feel free to add your suggestion in Feature Suggestions section of this messageboard.

Hi people i just had to comment this (I go to a tech school, and we're all totally anti-any OS other than XP..) It is a really amusing because at czech tech schools they are most of the time against anything that came from microsoft Actually numerous Linux distros are number one here. XP is a really good system but a Vista id not as much bad. Few minor twaks here and there and it can be as much comfortable as a XP (however I´m not using it on my systems because I´m now satisfied with XP and I see no reason why to buy a new OS just yet.) Rather than Vista I want to see how will Windows 7 turn up (native English speakers please tell me if I can use "turn up" in this context thanks).

There are many Linux users all over the world, one can hardly find a country with no Linux users, I myself would like to start using it on my real (not Virtual PC) hardware. XP is more spread but not always, take France and many former USSR republics. Linux turns more cost-effective. Generally, Vista is better than XP, I've not had serious problems with it. But it is not any faster, in many users' experience. Vista's windows explorer, which is hunted for by many XP skinners, is far less functional than XP's. Besides, when several windows overlay each other's borders - that's a mess indeed. And disabling the transparent borders gives you milky taskbar, that sucks big time ! ``````````````````````````` Edit : Windows Server 2008 is not bad, you can turn Aero on, but why on earth did they deprive user of WMP 11 ? + an effort to get the right antivirus for it. Windows 7 - what is the concept now, desktop + server combined ? Anyone know of a good site devoted to it ? End_Of_Edit``````````````````````````` I've heard of MAC OS - is anyone here using it ? How does it feel ?

Thanks amos I´ll remember that Roman I´ve read an article about Windows 7 but it was not very helpful. Microsoft haven´t released much info about its new system. I heard that it should be more lightweight than Vista. Microsoft plan to move some of the application to web to its not so lively Live portal (WindowsMail, MovieMaker etc) I think 7 will be another windows evolution step, no revolution at all (They don´t have much time anyway). However if they manage to make a lightweight system combining XP speed and system requirements with improved security and DX10 for gamers I´ll rather try 7 then Vista.

I heard that it should be more lightweight than Vista. This is what I heard too at an early stage of its development, but they've added features like Home Group and Recovery Center. Will these promising features make 7 lightweight? ``````` ```````` ```````` ```````` ```````` ```````` Microsoft plan to move some of the application to web to its not so lively Live portal (WindowsMail, MovieMaker etc) I didn't here about that, but it also looks so according to this publication. ``````` ```````` ```````` ```````` ```````` ```````` Microsoft haven´t released much info about the new system. I think they haven't because they are still forming the concept. They recently opened Official Windows 7 Blog. Anyway, I'm too looking forward to Vienna 7. And hopefully they'll change the luminescent bar back to what it looks like in Vista. (Ther's an illustrated overview of Windows 7 Build 6519.1.)

It's going to be slimmer out of the box than Vista, but as has been mentioned, this is primarily because they're stipping all default applications off it and putting them in Windows Live Wave 3 (or perhaps 4 by then). However, they're not really bothered. They're still going to try their hardest to appeal to the average home user, and once again, it will be the bane of the OS (read a very interesting article on this here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-10047704-17.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20) Mac is looking more attractive by the second, and Linux, unfortunately, is still looking desparate - and it's still primarily hardware producer's fault.

You´re right amos, right now I have to live without my Kubuntu distro because I recently upgraded my hardware. Current result is no sound because of non-existent ALC889A driver and no accelerated desktop because of complicated ati HD4850 driver installation. With my old GForce 6600GT it was only a matter of a few clicks, now it is like download this install that, compile source try this and hope it will work, so I´m running XP now.

Oops again, I said: Windows Server 2008 is not bad, you can turn Aero on, but why on earth did they deprive user of WMP 11 ? I should admit that Windows Media Player 11 does get automatically installed with the Desktop Experience component. And this is what I especially like about Vista (Server 2008) Aero Flip 3D, I can see all windows not a single bit of delay real-time refreshed, with a couple of movies running, and CPU consuming just 10% average : It works this way on relatively slow machines, and so rejoice owners of Hi-End stuff. The same as in Vista. There is a perfect tutorial to turn on/off features : www.win2008workstation.comYou can enhance its desktop to the identical Vista's, with Aero, Flip 2D and 3D, sidebar, and aero cursors. Of course you won't have Media Center and Movie Maker, but who cares much TBH. Oh, ONE important thing from my own experience: - when you have just installed your server, the very first thing you wanna do is to install the Desktop Experience component BEFORE you install your video card driver, else Aero may not show in Control Panel > Personalize. And if you can't find Aero, then you'll need to manually turn it on via registration entries: http://www.google.com.ua/search?hl=ru&q=Vista+Basic+%2B+Aero&btnG=%D0%9F%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA&meta=Ok,
