Firefox 3 is the only browser I regularly use because of its customisability, extendability, support of open standards and its performance.

I've already taken to suggesting Chrome to non-tech-savvy people (I think it's the kind of browser you give your nan).

What about IE8? Besides being a copycat in almost every area, it's pretty reasonable. I never throught I'd say that.

Hi Leon1464 Smiley

This is an interesting topic.

I use more than one browser like Roman.

1.Opera
2.Firefox
3.Chrome
4.IE6

Chrome has got a tab area on the title bar. that's an idea. I like it. Smiley

Cheers,
Koji

Hi it seems that a lot people use more than one browser, I used to have a lot of them too when I was testing web pages.
Now I use Firefox for about two and a half year and for me it is a still one of the greatest browsers around. I use also IEtab firefox extension that enable switching between Gecko and Internet Explorer within firefox (good for some non w3c valid pages that are incorrectly rendered in FFox). Otherwise I don't use IE at all, althought I haven't tried IE8beta yet.
Right now I was surprised by the Google Chrome, although it is still beta it runs really fast. I like the idea that every page component (Java, HTML etc.) are run as a separate processes and i think this approach has a promising future. On the other side it is a way too simple for a ffox user Cheesy and btw. have you read the original EULA for the chrome before they changed it? Interesting stuff XD

Yeah - you believe the "it was a mistake" line they gave when it was made widely-known what section 1.11 said?

Hard to say whether it was a mistake or not, but I think at least they could read what they wrote. There are thousands of people out there who´ll just click next-> happily to have a shiny new browser.
I usually don´t read eulas myself, i use eulalyzer to pick up the most interesting parts. When I read it first I thought that I misunderstood, then that it´s a joke and then like they don´t mean it. Now it was a "mistake". Yeah big brother is watching you.

Original chrome EULA  vs  Fixed, step-by-step.

On afterthought they probably realized it came out too bold to claim "authorship" on all a user would do in the browser, and decided to roll back.

How about Flock, compliant with new web standard 2.0, is anyone using it, to share experience ?

Last time I used it, I disliked the inability to start it with its shortcut, and I found Flock lacking many convenient extensions of Firefox.

Any practical features in Flock not yet present in other web browsers ?

I never heard of it until now, but it seems it is a derivative of Firefox. I think I'll stick to good old Firefox, I just hope the FFox developers improve its speed, I didn't realize how slow it was until I tried Chrome.

Currently I'm testing Chromium (an open-source variant of Google Chrome), it is basically the same browser but I don't have to run stupid Google Update.exe in the background and agree to weird, ever-changing EULA Smiley

 Huh

I very much like Showcase in Mozilla FireFox. I currently don't have time to explore how to set a hotkey to invoke the showcase, so my question is how do I do it.

I heard there's another extension designed specifically to service hotkeys in Firefox. Or maybe there's a launch parameter (like .exe ~ showcase) by which the showcase layout can be launched. Does anybody know ?

Thank you.

Edit :

There's another cool preview extension Fox Tab, whose one strong point is the abiliy to browse through ALL open tabs, even if they're open in several different Firefox windows.

Hello I edited the poll and added many other options. In the previous poll I learned that most of the people use more than one browser. Now it should be more clear which one of the two people use most. Thanks to all who voted in the previous poll and feel free to vote again. If you use a browser not listed in the options you can post its name and say why do you use it and how it helps you during your daily tasks on the net.

p.S. Thanks Roman for your suggestion.

p.P.S About IE8, I don´t use IE at all but sometimes When I find a web page that doesn´t handle standards well and it is optimized for IE I have a FFox plugin called IEtab that can switch rendering engine from Gecko to IE within Firefox. Just because of that and a few applications that launch IE instead of deafult browser I installed IE8. I didn´t test it much yet but I´ll definitely give it a try.
