For those who are really enjoying this App and will always be using it, it would be nice to:

1-no icon on system tray, don't get me wrong but having too many icons on system tray is bad, and it would give the impression that th program is a little less "heavy" without the icon, plus it would alse give the ilusion that is a system service embedded.

2-I tryed to make this App managed by the system (like i said it would be nice to make the App system embebed) but if i putted it in manual when i start the App and it crashes i have to start it again by myself, so it would be nice to "make" windows manage the App itself by making it a Service of windows, i managed to add this App has a Service thru regedit but if i make it automatic when windows starts the i get the error "Direct3D no initialize" would be nice to have a way out of this, imagine your App even if it crashes it would be loaded again cause windows would be monitoring his status.

Hi Stig,

These are interesting suggestions. Whilst it might feel more integrated running as a Windows service, the thing that concerns me about this is whether access to the options would be lost. Were it you devloping this, I'm interested, how would you get around this problem?

Thanks for your suggestions - oh, and welcome to the board Smiley

Make options of the program accesible through Control Panel. And icon in tasktray make optional.
(That would be full integration to the system.)

Tongue  Good night Stig, Amos, exander, good night all,

no icon on system tray
would be a good option to add; now what I am concerned more with is that WinFlip tray icon gets lost every time windows explorer crashes. Note that the tray icon is quite friendly in that:

1. Left-clicking it starts flip
2. Right-clicking pops up options

Optionally disablung the tray icon would be good, I agree.

sound good, but especially at this early development stage I think exactly the way Amos reasons:

WinFlip does not need Control Panel or Windows Service integration. Instead, to restart it, WinFlip probably needs an additional wf.exe to monitor the main WinFlip.exe's state. This additional process could ensure stability, smooth responding to keys, and avoiding system crash.

So, it is  good idea to have WinFlp restarting on crash.

Thank you people for suggesting and let us see what it will be in a few version releases.

Our best regards,

 Roman.

I don't think it's really necessary to make another running processe since already XP has a process that monitors Apps so an extra app for monitoring would not be the ideal solution, but it would indeed solve the issue but for performance and less resource utilization, make xp monitor the App is the best solution.

And don't forget, more and more people are coming back to XP cause Vista it's to heavy and not really that worth it just because of the "visual add-ons" cause XP can also do those visual things with less performance issues, and for some reason Vista SP1 is a Downgrade of Vista to XP.

Keep up the excelente work, I'm looking foward for the next version Smiley

Hello Stig,

You are right, having WinFlip integrated in and monitored by XP/Vista is better than having just another application do this job. A while ago I suggested this idea of running an additional process to control the main one because WinFlip crashes too often ( in my experience once every two hours on 1 Gb RAM ) and stops responding sometimes when I stop to flip at certain foremost windows. I counted on that it would be easy and worth writing an .exe (as a temporary measure) to have it start and run alongside WinFlip.exe.

To integrate WinFlip into system, both XP and Vista, is quite an effort and promising new bugs. WinFlip is already very low on CPU ( close to 0 % when idle ) and on RAM ( apprx. 40 Mb ) resources, and there are portable applications which are almost impossible to crash, as for example Magic Formation and TopDesk portable. Obviously there is need to improve WinFlip's code instead of jumping to system integration, or writing an additional.exe.

The idea of system integration is good, but is probably too early for now.

To hide WinFlip's tray icon optionally would be great, to keep access to options it could be this way : when tray icon is turned off, clicking on WinFlip.exe would bring up the options.

Yes, in that you are right, new functions new problems, but I still have to congratulate the development team (or person) cause the program is excelente and it's a must have on xp, I just hope this good work would not go to waste and like i said earlyer, I'm really looking foward a new more stable and more promising version. My sincere thans and complimets.

Hi

I'm new to WinFlip and think it is a great app, i too would like to see an option to remove the icon from the system tray.
One reason is that i am creating my own unattended XP CD and would like to integrate it into the windows source but having the icon in the system tray is a bit off putting so i am hoping that you would give an option to remove the icon from the system tray.
